*Early French explorers of the 1600's dubbed this 31,000 square miles of inland water "Superior" and before that, the Chippewa tribe called it "Gitche Gumee". But, by any name, its waters and shoreline are among the most rugged and isolated in the United States.

In volume, Lake Superior is the largest of the five Great Lakes and is also the deepest and coldest. It could contain all of the other Great Lakes and three more Lake Erie's. Lake Superior and the adjacent inland lakes and streams offer a very unique fishing experience for those anglers who would enjoy catching a variety of fish common to the far north and cooler waters.
